Hello there. As you may have guessed, my name is Derek and this is my blog. I am beyond excited that you are here, and that I have a chance to in some way share life with you. I believe you are here for a reason and that we are all here on earth to grow together and encourage one another in this journey called life. I have been learning lately what it really means to be me. I think most people have to some degree given up on being themselves because it is much easier to just accept what society tells you to be. Even the people who “go against the grain” have become a societally accepted group to be put into. But I want more than that. I want to be ME! I believe that God has made us all uniquely to reflect Him in some fashion that only we can. I don’t know all of what that looks like in my life and that is where the name of this blog comes from. I want to DARE to be DEREK! To give up on the old trappings of life and run after and embrace who He has made me to be! Some days will be full of wild dances, some will be full of songs sung at the top of my lungs, and some will be silent. It is a journey and I am an adventurer finding my way as I go. This might look crazy to some and it might not be crazy enough to others, but I can tell you one thing: it will be me!
